8-9 gennaio 2018 – LIUC Università Cattaneo
Relatore: Michael Fop
All’interno del ciclo di seminari rivolti ai docenti e ricercatori LIUC, programmati dal Prorettore per rendere meglio noti i temi presidiati in Università e dare modo a tutti i ricercatori di presentare i loro lavori con l’intento di costruire nuove collaborazioni di ricerca, Michael Fop (Postdoctoral researcher in Statistics – Insight Centre for Data Analytics - School of Mathematics and Statistics - University College Dublin) ha presentato ai colleghi il suo lavoro relativo a “Applied Model-based Clustering”
Abstract
Model-based clustering is a popular and widely used approach for clustering multivariate data which has seen application in numerous fields. The purpose of this short course is to introduce the fundamental ideas underlying the approach and provide the tools for its application to practical data analysis problems. The course will cover the basic methods for model-based clustering of the most common types of data: continuous and categorical. Implementation and use of the available R packages will be demonstrated on illustrative examples. Methods for addressing more advanced problems often arising in practice will be discussed.
